This was my midweek project. In our living room we have a massive ottoman which I happen to love. The only downside is that there is no place to put food or drinks while sitting on the couch. So I wanted a tray to set there for convenience. I couldn't find one that I loved in my price range so I decided to create my own. I found two drawers at a local flea market and attached them together to make the perfect rustic serving tray. Before it made it to the ottoman I used it as a centerpiece for my Mom's kitchen table. It really went with her autumn decor.
First I nailed and glued a wood bottom to the drawers so they would stay connected.
Then I drilled holes on each side. Large enough to fit the rope through to make handles.
Next, I attached to rope to create handles and also painted the sides to match the front of the drawers. After that all I did was give it a good cleaning.
