I have a serious obsession with bows. Bows of all kinds really, but right now I am obsessed with making my own bows. No matter what the fabric looks like, once it's in the shape of a bow it takes on a new feminine look that you can't help but love. Maybe it's the inner child in me remembering how excited I was to receive a new bow hair clip, or a birthday present with a shiny bow on top, or a new Sunday dress with a bow tied on the back. Wherever the love comes from I accept it with open arms and apply it to my bow making. I have recently been going through old bags of fabric that have been passed down from my great grandmother. She started making a quilt and cut tons and tons of patches for it. She never got around to finishing it so my grandmother worked on it, then passed it to my mother who also worked on it and passed it down to me. I have no clue how to make a quilt, but I saved enough of the patches to send to a quilt making shop to have them finish it. With all the left over fabric and scrap patches that I couldn't part ways with, I decided to channel my bow making skills. I kept the traditional design very simple, taking only a few minutes to create each bow. The result, is a large amount of beautiful bows that I could never possibly use all of. Eventually, I will get around to selling some, giving some as gifts, and keeping my all time favorites. Right now I'm just going to enjoy all these bows and bask in there simple elegance.
